Finally...feel confident about the SAT journey.
Part of what I do here at Conquer the Test is to mentor students AND PARENTS to a place of healthy, Kingdom-centered SAT Conqueror-ship. A good starting place is helping you get un-confused 🙂
We have become his poetry, a re-created people that will fulfill the destiny he has given each of us, for we are joined to Jesus, the Anointed One. Even before we were born, God planned in advance our destiny and the good works we would do to fulfill it!
If God has determined to stand with us, tell me, who then could ever stand against us? For God has proved his love by giving us his greatest treasure, the gift of his Son. And since God freely offered him up as the sacrifice for us all, he certainly won’t withhold from us anything else he has to give.
Welcome, It’s an Honor
I’m Matt Hallock, a long-time tutor, SAT coach, author (soon-to-be-published), English teacher, preacher, mentor, dad, husband, and follower of Jesus.
I live and run the inner workings of Conquer the Test in Santa Cruz County, California. That’s why you’ll see live and local SAT Prep workshops and upcoming College Essay classes in places like Watsonville, Monterey, Gilroy, Santa Cruz, Aptos, Scotts Valley, and San Jose.
But I also work with students who live pretty much anywhere in the country through online virtual sessions. So don’t let location be a hindrance!
What God and I think about your student
Inside your student, your teenage high-schooler, is a world-changing, atmosphere-shifting, conqueror. God made them to fully unleash the identity, dreams, and potential that he put in their DNA…out into the world.
I believe that your kid has absolutely zero obstacles that can hold them back.
No less-than-stellar teacher leading to a bad transcript grade
No friend/social drama at school
No overwhelmingly huge college entrance process
No dang SAT score can stop them.
How I Serve Parents of My Students
Wonderful, awesome, amazing parents often unintentionally find themselves feeling like the rat race of applications and deadlines is somehow outside of God’s realm of care. They can get stressed, frantic, and worried about their kid’s future. And this often leads to tension in the home.
Well, you’re not on your own. No matter how overwhelmed you feel.
My job—my honor—is to join you in every possible way.
When you work with me, whether it’s through my one-on-one coaching, one of my in-person or online group classes, or even if you purchase the online courses as a standalone product, you gain an advocate. I am available for you to answer your questions, give you my guidance, and help you through the process of figuring this stuff out.
So let’s do this whole College Essay and SAT thing in a way that is healthy, peaceful, and frankly, dominating. Yes, I want you to dominate the process rather than let it steal your sleep.
I want your teen to Conquer the Test rather than let it define them and their worth in the world.
And I want all of you to know, no matter what score you end up with, God’s dream for your child cannot be stopped…unless you let go of it.
Let’s believe the truth again.
“For it is you who light my lamp; the LORD my God lightens my darkness. For by you I can run against a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall…He trains my hands for war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze…For you equipped me with strength for the battle; you made those who rise against me sink under me.” Psalm 18:29-39
“May he grant you your heart’s desire and fulfill all your plans! Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God..we rise and stand upright.” Psalm 20:4, 7-8
“And your ears shall hear a word behind you saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it.’” Isaiah 30:21
“We are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” Romans 8:37
Ways We Can Work Together
You may feel that your son or daughter needs of focused, one-on-one, motivation from someone other than you Maybe they need a morale boost, a mindset shift, someone to tell them that God loves them.
Or maybe YOU need someone to help you formulate a powerful SAT prep plan.
It’s no secret that the high school, or teenage, years are some of the most mythical, ominous, and dreaded years of any parent’s life. The stories—the carnage—we hear about are enough to make us wonder if we should somehow throw in the towel and slowly back away from...
One of the most common questions I get asked is, “When should my kid take the SAT?” Here’s the best timeline that I’ve found almost across the board. Sure there are always exceptions. Some students are massively ahead of the game and are ready for the SAT during their...
A quick note: This post is mostly for parents, so that you can know how to best guide your students toward conquering the SAT. But it's written to students...a) because it's easier to write that way and b) so you can give it to them 🙂 Here goes... In order to get...
